HarMA Seminar Event

Harmony and Music Analysis Seminar organized as a dissemination event since 2018.

HarMA HUB is a unique Music Theory Erasmus+ cooperation partnership project funded by the EU (KA220) and coordinated by the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. Aimed at teachers, students, and researchers in music theory, the project seeks to develop several tools gathered on a HUB platform for music theory resources, promote research and pedagogical innovation, and contribute to the harmonization of academic offerings at the European level.

Harmony and Music Analysis Seminar

The HarMA seminar will hold its third edition at the Conservatori Superior de Música “Joaquín Rodrigo” de València on April 14, 15, and 16, 2025. It will bring together more than 35 different institutions, 90 music theory professors, 22 conferences, and 3 training sessions. This seminar is a major dissemination event for the HarMA HUB project, which will be presented during the event.

HarMA Week for Students

Intensive Training Week in Music Theory

Five-days intensive programme (22-27 April, 2024) will gather students to experiment, transfer and apply content of the project together with them, working from the tools developed in WP2 in a view to broaden their perception of Music Theory as it is taught in other EU countries and contexts.

HarMA Weeks Staff

Intensive Training Week for Staff

The 5-days Harma staff week (20-24 April 2026) aims to encourage pedagogical exchange among music theory teachers from different countries, focusing on innovative teaching methods. It allows participants to explore new approaches, improve professional language skills, and discover perspectives not included in their home curricula. Thirty teachers from music theory departments are selected through the Erasmus+ mobility programme. The week includes lectures, workshops, and seminars centered on music theory pedagogy and analysis. Topics include Schenkerian analysis, set theory, computer-based analysis, and modern form theories. Fifteen collaborations emerged, with feedback gathered through questionnaires and interviews to ensure continuous improvement..
