The book contains a collection of melodies, which according to the authors may serve both as solfège exercises or as dictations. The melodies were composed by the authors specifically for the purpose of developing the perception and performance skills of atonal melodies, based on their intervallic content. Each chapter is focused around a particular interval or group of intervals.
