The book is the first of three volumes in the “Musical dictations” series. The series provides a vast selections of dictations, originating in music literature. Overall, the series is organized according to the increasing level of difficulty, in terms of texture, harmony and scales, yet each volume contains various types of dictation – in volume 1 from one- to two-part texture. Each dictation is followed by a short comment that is listing the characteristics worth pointing out to students. There are CDs enclosed with each volume, providing audio material for the dictations, which makes the series a convenient resource to use in ear training classes.
