The premise of this book was to create a solfège collection designated specifically for the students of vocal studies. It contains musical excerpts from a wide historical range of vocal literature. The excerpts include lyrics, some of them are provided with piano accompaniment, some – a cappella. The collection is organized based on scale material. Tonal music, organized from the “easiest” to the “most difficult” keys, is followed by compositions based on different scales and, subsequently, by those involving 12-tone material. The book contains also two methodological chapters that cover the specifics of teaching future singers the music-reading skills.

Keywords: singing exercises, solfège, ear training, sight-singing
