The book is based on the author’s original teaching method, founded and developed throughout many years of teaching ear training to the students of the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. The method is based on leading-notes, both upper and lower, linked to every degree of a scale. Its objective is, through a combination of singing exercises and listening tests, to lead the students from tonality through extended tonality to atonality. The usage of highly chromaticized material serves to facilitate the perception of atonal melodic structures.
